He exited the competition on Saturday night's show after landing in third place behind Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur
But Christopher Maloney has waved an early goodbye to his X Factor journey after deciding he doesn't want to take part in the series final on Sunday night
The 34-year-old singer is said to have riled bosses with his 'abusive' attitude towards his fellow contestants during rehearsals, before 'storming out' and returning to Liverpool.
Production sources have claimed Christopher turned up 'late' for rehearsals and appearing 'visibly worse for wear', while contestants allegedly maintained they could smell alcohol on his breath.
An X Factor spokesperson told MailOnline: 'Chris decided he no longer wanted to be part of The X Factor Final and has gone back to Liverpool.'
The Liverpudlian wannabe was allegedly angered when he realised he had only been given one line in the group medley, and 'stormed off' to his nearby hotel.
A source told The Sun newspaper: 'Everyone is completely fed up of his behaviour. He was abusive to the production team and other contestants.
'He said he was leaving and didn't want to perform in the final tonight.'
Christopher is said to have returned to rehearsals at Manchester Central after 30 minutes, and 'laughed' while the other contestants attempted to perform.
But the final straw allegedly came when he had a row with former X Factor star Carolynne Poole, who exited the show in the first episode.

The former cruise ship singer later appeared to deny claims he stormed off, tweeting: 'Thank u @thexfactor had a wonderful Time. an amazing experience. love u all. sorry I had a sore throat an doctor signed me off. good luck x'.
But it was clear there was no love lost between him and Carolynne, with the star later aiming a tirade of abuse at her, before claiming he was being 'bullied'.
Writing on his Twitter page, he said: '@CarolynnePoole you'll do anything to get a headline! disgraceful! week one! bitter.'

He then added: 'take no notice of crap in papers! I'm fine. it's just a final stretch of sensational headlines lol. whatever xx we know the truth.

'thank u all so much for ur love help and support. thinking everyone wants a final dig. disgusting xx love u na nite.'
Christopher left The X Factor on Saturday night after losing out in the public vote to James Arthur and Jahmene Douglas.
Speaking to Dermot O'Leary after learning of his exit, Christopher said: 'I feel like I've already won.
'The critiques I've had and negative press, I'm the third finalist and thanks to everyone that's been supporting.

His mentor Gary said: 'Congratulations you've done brilliantly.'
Christopher's exit is likely to please X Factor boss Simon Cowell, who was reportedly concerned how he could market Christopher as an artist if he won the top prize.
Earlier this week, Louis Walsh explained he had spoken to Simon on the phone about the three finalists, saying: 'I know he loves James and Jahmene but I don’t remember him talking about Chris, no.'
During his stint on The X Factor, it was alleged Christopher had attempted to strangle a colleague as they worked on a cruise ship together.

Janette Galbraith from Milton Keynes claimed the terrifying confrontation occurred when they were both working on the MSC Lirica ship back in 2005 following an argument about him bringing someone back to the cabin they shared together.
She said: 'His face totally changed. It was like he was someone else. His eyes started to burn red and he began shouting. He lunged towards me and grabbed me around the throat. I screamed and tried to get him off.
'Somehow I managed to get loose and ran out of the cabin, crying. I cried for hours that night.'
Meanwhile, Christopher was reportedly fired from his job at a Liverpool debt collection agency for 'serious misconduct' after 'lunging across a desk at a female manager'.

A former colleague told the Sunday Mirror: 'That isn't the real Maloney you see on TV, he's got a temper on him. I'm surprised people haven't seen through him.'
And the singer's fellow contestants have made no secret of the fact that he was an 'outsider' in the group.
Kye Sones recently said: 'All of us have got really close and then you’ve got Chris. We’ve been a really strong group and he’s been an outsider - and that’s nothing to do with any of us lot.
'He’s very tactical. There are two different people - one when cameras are there and one when they’re not there.'
But in spite of the singer's apparent popularity, voting figures revealed on spin-off show The Xtra Factor prove Christopher won the public vote for the first seven consecutive weeks.

Meanwhile, the X Factor final had its worst audience for seven years on Saturday night and again failed to beat rival Strictly Come Dancing.
The Saturday night final of the ITV1 show trailed its BBC1 rival by 1.3 million viewers.
X Factor attracted an average audience of 9.5 million for the first stage of the final - the lowest audience since 2005 when 9.2 million watched Shayne Ward win the show.
By contrast Saturday night's edition of Strictly saw the highest peak audience of the series, with 12.2 million tuning in at one stage.
Sunday's show saw James Arthur crowned winner of The X Factor 2012.
